Expressive Writing

When you experience trauma or grief, there's no telling how it might manifest. You don't know how to handle the pain because we don't have specific guidelines. There may be feelings trapped inside that you can't or are unable to express to yourself or anyone else. Does this sound familiar? Sometimes we don't realize how deeply we've been traumatized or how much we carry from a hurtful event or situation we've experienced or caused.

Is there so much swirling through your mind that you want and need to get it all out but don't have a clue how to begin? Expressive writing might be your answer; this form allows you to translate your emotional experiences into words without regard to structure or writing conventions.

In the Expressive Writing workshop, you'll learn how writing can be used as an emotional outlet. You'll be encouraged to identify and express those upsetting inner thoughts and feelings trapped within you. Along with other attendees, you'll write about your experiences dealing with grief, PTSD, or illness. In the process, learn how to maneuver through the core emotions you've felt or are feeling and begin your path toward healing. You don't need to write well or spell well to benefit from this course.

Writing Coach and Trauma workshop leader Mari Fitz-Wynn has over fifteen years of experience training church leaders and teaching their members about emotional healing.
